Steve Buscemi
Petite biographie :
Né le 13 décembre 1957 à Brooklyn, Steve Buscemi suit, après
une brève carrière de pompier, l'enseignement du fameux John
Strasberg au Lee Strasberg Institute. Il débute dans de petits cabarets du Lower
East Side en interprétant ses propres sketches, et joue au
sein du Wooster Group avant de tourner dans son premier film, The
way it is, d'Eric Mitchell, dont il compose également
la musique.
Remarqué dans Un clin d'œil pour un adieu, de Bill Sherwood, un des premiers films à traiter ouvertement du
sida, il voit sa carrière
cinématographique exploser vers la fin des années 80. Les tournages s'enchaînent, pour
la majeure partie dans des productions
indépendantes, et on le verra ainsi dans les films des frères Coen
(Fargo, The big Lebowski, Miller's crossing, etc.), dans les deux premiers longs de Quentin Tarantino, chez Martin Scorsese (pour un sketch de New
York stories), chez Altman, Ferrara,
Rodriguez, etc.
Des seconds rôles de geignards, de teignes et de tête-à-claque, basés sur un physique
disons... particulier que le comédien assume
totalement. Pourtant, il ne rechigne pas à visiter les grands studios des majors, comme
l'attestent ses participations à des
blockbusters tels que Les ailes de l'enfer et plus récemment
Armageddon, tous deux produits
par Jerry Bruckheimer.
Après s'être essayé à la réalisation sur le court-métrage
écrit et interprété par ses soins, What Happened to Pete,
Steve Buscemi a sauté le pas an tournant en 1996 son premier long métrage, Happy hour, présenté à Cannes dans
la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs. On a
également vu Buscemi dans des séries telles que "Deux flics
à Miami", "Equalizer" et "Against the Law".
En 2000 il remit sa casquette de réalisateur pour Animal factory.
Dernièrement il a tourné aux cotés de John Travolta dans Domestic Disturbance.
